yep, the 3.0 vulcan, one of Fords better engine (in my personal opinion)
Im not sure about the gearing, but most likely it is stock, the trans is a 4spd w OD.
I do have the aluminum driveshaft (bonus !) but I am unsure about an aluminum hood.

the taller tires have def helped, I saw a slight increase in mpg as soon as I put them on. a couple yrs ago, I went with a smaller diameter (60 instead of 70) and saw a noticeable decrease in mpg, so when it was time I went back to the 70 ratio.

I havent heard about the efan catching on fire, several people on ranger-forums have done the mod with no ill effects, could it be in how it was wired up ?

No, a lot of the particular fan controllers they were using got recalled.

eek
ok, I was planning on grabbing one out of a junkyard off a mustang as it is a direct swap (even the shroud is supposed to fit) so I will look more into it before I make up my mind, thanks for the info.

It is best to also stick with the stock intake if you haven't already changed it.

here I did some photoshop on the front clip to show the first stage of my plans for it.

stock front clip:

stage 1 aero front clip:

the bumper fill will be done by using expanding insulation foam to create the base for a mold, then using fiberglass for durability. this will basically be a fiberglass cover that will attach to the bumper.
Im also planning on closing/covering that gap between the hood and the lights/grill.
I already have GTS headlight covers that eliminate the crevices of the headlight assembly that I will be putting back on. and then I plan on filling any gaps in that area with the same method of insulation foam for a mold, then making fiberglass pieces.

and the final part of stage 1, Im in the process of picking up a set of projectors to run HIDs (the GTS covers dont allow much light through them as they block some of the beam without projectors)

might also help if you block the back side of the chin spoiler.

Im actually planning on replacing it with one that is going to cover the wheels better, with an additional flare out to push airflow around the tires. that will be stage 2

then I will be an attaching a belly pan that will run front to back, with maybe a couple of spots for heat to escape. looking to make it out of thin aluminum materials to keep it heat resistant and more durable than coroplast.

ah, sorry, I had to trade the truck off back in January. it was my only reliable transportation and it wasnt very family friendly when my wife and son came with me anywhere.
I am going to get back into another one sometime, probably within the next year, as I do need a truck for work. when I do, I will still be heading into the same direction as I was with this one.
