I'd love to see some more info on how big to make it, and how far to extend it aft.

My gut feeling says : follow the aero template for size and distance

Leaving the tail lights visible could be problematic. I'd rather do the "box" on the rear end, which extended could look like a four-sided Bonneville spoiler.

I wonder how much more benefit you get for lengthening it (within the template of course). If I could make it 20mm or 30mm long instead of the paper's 10mm perhaps it could show a 5% improvement...? That would be about 1-2mpg. But even then I'm not sure it would be worth the time.

300mm long from the tail lights... we'll see how it goes!

Used literally my last bits of coroplast, duct taped on and cross braced with twine.

I think that last experiment looks cool, not sure if it's going to actually do anything for you though.

Did I see minsnowta plates on the car?
And you are in Michigan ?

If so the cops are going to leave you alone. Not worth the out of state ticket hassle/ your laws might be different etc.

Thanks, I don't know either but extrapolating from the Coventry data I am hoping for 1 or 2 mpg. I'm not sure if having a longer box and therefore larger vortex/phantom boattail is counter productive, but it's worth finding out.

If I exceed 44mpg in combined driving i'll say it's from the box. Not patient enough to test it right now :P

Yep. I've gotten pulled over twice here, once in the Rabbit and once in the Probe. I've never gotten a ticket. I'm glad the officer didn't spot the lack of a driver side window, as that is illegal here.

I was driving home from the supermarket when a black Olds Alero passed on the left. In the back seat was a little girl with a grin from ear to ear, staring at the Probe. It made my day! I like to think this car inspires people to seek more enjoyment in their lives and make the world better one day at a time.

Anyway, after parking I used some of the cones sitting by the parking spot to make it into a triceratops. It's good to regularly let out your inner five year old!

I like it !

It does seem that our odd cars do make others smile

For my car it depends greatly on age to the reaction I get.
Under 16 love it, get a kick out of it, laugh, really seem to enjoy it.
16-25 it's odd but they have a limited budget so they understand the rational of why it looks odd. But for most people in this age group fitting in matters more then saving $$$

25-55 this is a really mixed bag. Car snobs dislike it. Mini van moms frown at the looks. Guys seem to think it cool but not for me to drive.

55-70 think it's a neet idea and I just must send the car makers a letter.

75+ very much understand the idea of saving money , they lived through the depression, and I tend to get a lecture on " how it's rair to see a youngster interested in saving gas".

Do you tend to see a similar break down by age?

...a car with the name "Anal Probe" must be "Procto Powered" in some manner or fashion, don't you think?
