Video: worth a watch - Jay's Garage looks at GM Challenge X vehicles

Jay Leno's Garage is a great site. Some really interesting stuff there. I've spent quite a bit of time watching the videos of his collection...

ABG just posted there's a video featuring Leno interviewing the university students involved in GM's Challenge X program (where identical SUVs are modified for improved efficiency & emissions).

Interesting to see the different approaches used - all kinds of combinations of hybrid, biodiesel, ethanol, fuel cell.

Leno asks why they didn't also try to make the vehicles more aerodynamic, which struck me as perceptive... and then he makes fun of Prius owners for buying obviously aerodynamic vehicles...

Anyway, it's worth a watch: http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/...tml?vid=201465.

Interesting, but to be totally honest I'm not impressed. I guess I was hoping for more. Of course, I don't know the rules they have to abide by.

1.9L Diesel

OK, so -- in the "GM Minute" segment, over 17 minutes it appears like the 1.9L Diesel is the most efficient.

...and GM won't offer it here because Global Warming is a Crock of... meh, nevermind.

"We focused on Aerodynamics.... We removed both antennas."

Seriously? That's one trait I don't like about some engineers... Overselling. Sure, the guy before said aero wasn't a big focus - that doesn't mean you need to sell your aero.

Interesting watch... Lots of diesels
