Hemi Prius

One thing I hear people ask about is "why don't we have diesel hybrids?"

Which is why I was so excited when I was walking through the public library parking lot yesterday, and I saw THIS:

Too good to be true?

Yep.

The driver was just hopping out, so I talked to him for a few minutes. He was an older guy, and quickly admitted that it was simply a badge that he purchased and glued on the back of the car.

He talked about how this was now his SECOND Prius, he loved both his Gen 2 and his "Hemi" gen 3. He also mentioned how he didn't like that they get a bad rap as a "slow car". He had his going over 100 mph out in the dessert once!

He also talked about how the car made a lot of sense for him. He slightly poo-poo'd EVs due to range limitation, and said how plug-in hybrids seemed to make a lot of sense for the area we live in.

I happened to be driving the wife's Hymotion Prius and told him about that car. ("Yep, that red one over there gets over 100mpg...")

So, yes car modifications can even include gluing on a Hemi badge. No, it doesn't make the car more efficient or go faster, but it sure starts conversations!
