[2 Weeks Away] New Maxton Design Air Dam/Splitter gets Installed

We're finally getting that front splitter installed on the van in 2 weeks. having to drive 10+ hours or more to my buddys shop in Goldsboro. He specializes in body kits and when I sent him the hardware for the splitter, he told me that hardware isn't good enough. So before drilling etc, we're heading over to a place he knows that has all the hardware we need to do the job. Not only hardware but we'll be panel bonding the splitter also. We've taken time a hotel for some benge food network xmas shows so that we don't drive around while the glue is curing. While there, I'll speak with him about things we can do for side skirts..

This Just In:

Surprisingly, two days after we have the front air dam installed, I've been informed that we've been granted permission to drive the van on a racetrack.. Plus my buddy said that he would remove the factory side skirts and work something in/on them before we come back down to visit.

The best christmas present ever? we will see..

Stay Tuned..

The track date and time has been secured and we get 1 hour on the track and can video/still photo our adventure.. the wife and I will take turns doing this. The only drawback.. if it rains or snows.. but even then the wife said she will drive the van on the wet and snowy pavement.

This isn't about just driving the van around a track, it's about test the new front splitter and the rear coil springs. later more items like camber plates and side skirts will be added and again we'll head out to the track for more testing. One I can say right now without even stepping on the track is that the front springs will have to get the same treatment as the rear, Shorter and stiffer and we'll look into designed this some time in Jan.

Remember those air tab things? well I spoke with someone about this.. meaning he is an engineer and I submitted an idea of something less noticeable that can be placed on the van the same way I was going to place these air tabs.. this may be something big or at least for our van.

Be cautious of engineer pre bias. Run into many of these people that have hard held incorrect positions about what is actually happening.

We've had to postpone the track tour and front splitter install due to bad weather.. the slipter would need 24 hours to cure in warmer weather and although the track would still allow us on the track, with the rain, we would not be able to get any shots of the van because I don't have a weather sealed camera nor will I or my wife be standing in the rain. this will have to be rescheduled at a later date.

GodSend? Maybe cause not long after canceling the track date.. the van's front coil springs are failing.. they are bouncy as hell. This gave us an opportunity to contact the coil spring company once again. They designed a rear set of springs for the van and we've been very pleased with the results.. Now we need them again to do the same for the front springs.

This is our official thread on how we developed new springs for the van:

https://passionford.com/forum/restor...t-connect.html

According to the spring company, these new front springs will not need any height adjustment, merely a stiffer or firmer spring rate somewhere in the neighborhood of 20%-25% more than the OE springs.

Once the springs have been designed, tested and installed on the van, this mark a major accomplishment for us as we've wanted and searched for a company in North American that would design a custom set of springs for the van. We got tired of relying on third party parts form overseas.

The process of creating a new set of springs will take 4 weeks to complete and then we'll have to have them powder coated by our shop the standard bright red color to match the rear springs. The best way to describe These preloaded/preset ride height springs is that they are like coilovers without the center mounted strut/shock.

Our newly designed springs (front and rear) have been saved within their system and listed as "Flord Performance Springs" for the 2019-2023 Ford Transit Connect. So if any Connect owner wanted the same set up as our van, they would call the spring company and simply ask for the Flord Performance Springs. These springs will set back the buyer by 1K but these are well worth the time and effort we/I put into them.

As for the instagram and youtube links, these sites aren't cooperating..
