Always as stated in post 5 or so check compression and general inspection. Vacuum compression and so on.

Remove spark plug in low cylinder add a oil cap full of oil and see if it then has more compression. If so then rings. If not look at the valves.

well bad news bears guys



had a huge flood in the area drove the car into a huge unsuspecting water hole.

flooded the inside of the car up to my waist. car stalled pretty soon to hitting water.

waited a day and the next day I checked the air filter it looked ok

had to rejump the battery. after that I disconnected the distributor and took the spark plugs out and cranked the engine over a few times. then I plugged them back in and tried starting it up now it wont turn over.

getting it towed to a shop to find out whats all wrong with it. with the ecu submerged. the wiring under the dash. air filter. water getting anywhere it shouldn't be iv no idea where to start. CEL is on but cudnt read any codes.

ill update later on the status of it. if it get it all figured out ill do that oil test again for sure.

but I might be completely sol on this situation

Oh no. I'm sorry. It is probably a lost cause. Salvage parts you want, or can save. Part it out after that. The transmission is fine, but I wouldn't be surprised if the engine sucked water in through the air intake given how deep it got.

BTW, your attitude about it is great.

The general rule on buying cars that have been declared "total losses" due to flood damage:

Don't. They are pretty much never worth the hassles of putting them right again.

I hate to say it, but this might have gotten to that point.

shop is still looking at it and doing their best to see if they can get it to start.

im almost certain the car is totaled.
if it is the VX transmission in the car is brand new.
my father wants to just get rid of the car asap as opposed to parting it out.
so if anyone is looking for the set of vx rims or trans lemme know message me an offer.
trans has 6-7k miles on it
rims are in alright shape

Absolutely sucks sorry I would save the drivetrain and swap it into another eg Honda
