Hi Ben

Somehow your thread's becoming more and more popular. Well it's now so popular (at least among the ev lovers) that even me from far far away Poland started following it. Unfortunetly I know nothing about electric cars but you have my greatest support. You're doing such a great job posting all this posts and videos here, it seems coming here is more exciting than watching Orange country choppers on discovery or similar

I really keep my fingers crossed for a success of your restoration. Would be such a pitty if this car become only a parts donor.
P.S. Can't wait for what's coming next

Just last night, I saw there was a ping-back to a Polish language web forum.

I couldn't read anything on it except for "Ben" and "Hurricane Sandy"!

Always kind of fun when there's interest from all over in this sort of thing!

I just watched your battery-case-opening video. You have no idea how much anticipation I felt, and the let-down at seeing rust.
I think I actually said "Aw dammit" out loud, and made my girlfriend wonder exactly what I was watching.

Anyway, how do you test cells like this? Run a bit of charge into each and then test it? Or are you going to take them somewhere with more equipment? I ask because I really have no idea about the sparky stuff. I'm rootin' for ya though, I hope it turns out well. Good luck!

I think what I'll do is pull out one "block" of cells.

The individual cells are assembled into sub-groups of 8 cells that are packaged together, and then those, along with the BMS and a bunch of wiring, create the entire battery pack.

It should be fairly straight-forward to pull out one block, wash it off, inspect it closer (in my nice warm and dry house) and see if it's possible to give it some charge.

One of the other guys here on Ecomodder doesn't live all that far away from me, and he has experience working on Lithium cells in an Enginer plug-in kit. I think I'll visit him and see if we can use his lithium charger/tester.

It was me from Poland - I have same nick on this Polish forum you're talking above I've had Peugeot iOn (same to IMIEV) but now sold it (bought Leaf), and I also wanted to buy flooded car from USA and import to Poland but European Law don't allow to re-register imported cars from USA with flooded TITLE So needs to clean TITLE first I was also watching those two iMiEVs in Copart auction which one of them ended to you GOOD LUCK I hope you'll find a way to fix it!

Actually that is a real thought, many tech colleges and universities would jump on this because its actually NEW tech.

UWM or UWP would be the best bet.
