I've noticed many users just posting numbers in this thread, but not adding them to the real CdA list, linked in post #1. So, here is the link again:
Vehicle Coefficient of Drag List

If someone has encountered problems which make editing the table impossible (or hazardous for the table itself), then please mention this in your post. Once it is known that your data is presented, but not entered, hopefully someone will volunteer and add it to the table.

Mods: Would it be possible to change the way data is entered into the table? What I have in mind is something like a form where you fill in the blanks, then the table gets updated automatically, something like entering data in the garage/fuel log. Also, there should be a way of attracting attention to entries with iffy/false data.

No, the width is without mirrors, but the frontal area is with mirrors. If you can find/calculate the FA, then that's much better than estimating FA with height and width.

I added data for the following 75 cars:

Audi A3, A4, A6, A8
BMW Compact, 3-, 5-, 7-series
Citroën C8, Saxo, Xantia, XM, ZX
Chrysler Voyager
Daewoo Espero, Nexia
Fiat Bravo, Cinquecento, Punto, Ulysse
Ford Escort, Explorer II, Fiesta, Galaxy, Ka, Mondeo, Mondeo Turnier, Scorpio, Windstar I
Hyundai Accent
Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee
Lancia Delta HPE
Lexus LS 400
Mazda 323 C, 626, Xedos 6, Xedos 9
Mercedes-Benz C-, E-, G-, S-, V-series
Mitsubishi Colt, Pajero
Nissan Almera, Micra, Patrol GR, Primera, Terrano II
Opel Astra, Astra Caravan, Corsa, Omega, Sintra, Vectra
Peugeot 106, 306, 406, 806
Renault Clio, Espace II, Espace III, Laguna, Megane, Twingo
Saab 9000 CS
Seat Cordoba, Ibiza, Toledo
Škoda Felicja, Octavia
Subaru Legacy
Toyota Camry, Carina
Volkswagen Caravelle, Golf, Golf Variant, Polo, Sharan, Vento
Volvo 850, 940

They are all listed in the back of Piechna's book. These are all vehicles available in Europe in the late 1990's (may differ from American versions, for example the European Mazda 626 has higher suspension). The drag coefficient, frontal area and CdA are given in the book, though the Cd is usually listed as a few numbers. The author told me that he found them in different sources. Since I didn't know which number is closest to being correct, I used Cd = CdA/A. This gave a few numbers that don't look right, like Cd=0.27 for a '90's BMW, Mercedes or VW. Use at your own risk. If anyone is willing to verify any of these, please do so.

Not only did I calculate each Cd from CdA and A, I also searched the Internet for the height and width of each vehicle, plus I painstakingly converted each and every number from metric to the old-fashioned, backward units called inches and square feet. Words cannot describe how strenuous and time consuming this was, but I was driven by the faith that the fruit of my hard work will be of help to fellow ecomodders. I do hope that this forum will finally open up to metric units. Please.

I will add that I asked the author, mr.Piechna, for his permission to publish this data in EcoModder's CdA list. He replied that the rights to the book are actually the publisher's property, but personally he has nothing against it.

I wrote to the publisher 13 months ago, but since he still hasn't replied, then I assume the he also has no objections.

According to wikipedia, the '95-7 hatch is .34, the sedan is .32.

Some guy on instructables says he measured his '92 (model unspecified) as .32.

mechdb.com shows frontal area of several models, too.

I can't figure out Cd for my Kia Soul. Kia NA does not offer the info on their website.

The Nology link, the wikipedia link, and carfolio.com were all busts as well (no Kia love at all on the ol' nets). I also tried the German link opelgt (that Toecutter posted) and I know for sure I can't read polish, so I did not even try the link to Piechna's book.

Can anyone help? Any more links?
70.3"w x 63.4"h (5.86'x5.28') if that helps.

E-Class Mercedes 1996-2002.. probably best to add the chassis designation to all merc vehicles, W210 is the 'E-class 1996-2002'.. of which some estates came out in 2003!.. I even have a manual for this series which claims some cars were still produced in 2006.. so best to go for the chassis designation.

The follow on E-Class is the W211, and the latest is the W212. The classic boxy predecessor upon which so much of the mercedes legend is based is the W124 (I had one.. I've never owned or driven a better car, the W210 is not a patch on it), preceeded by the W123. (try typing W124 or R129 etc. into google and you'll get pictures of the relevant cars on the first page)

They produced a W210 estate/station wagon, which I believe has a Cd of 0.30 practically identical frontal dimentions (I own one).. sometimes referred to as the S210.. although my chassis number actually starts WDB 210, just like the saloons.

good wiki

Derek
