I may have stumbled on a serious flaw in my plan. My thinking was a 40' converted bus RV would be allowed an aero length exemption with a Fla 'approved device, is yet TBD.

However, I've seen many of the great national parks in the US, and now in retirement a leisurely revisit to many of them would be bucket list item for me.
My plans flaw, only approx 7% will allow a vehicle overnight over 40' in length, I am assuming aero devices are NOT exempt in their measurements.

This could be a show stopper.

That's a design parameter.

I no longer have my panel van.

That would be fine, except my design has a fold up composite aero hollow hard tail that serves also as an awning and as an enclosure for the transported car in the bus, which the car's rear end sticks a couple of feet into the insides of the "tail", which is then unseen, until the "tail" is raised for removing the car.
Moving the car inside completely reduces living space significantly with my layout and expected comfort level.

I'm counting on the car unseen is not part of the vehicle length for measurement as per Fla exemption, as car is part of the "load", and it will not be visible in transport mode when enclosed by the "tail".

Without a doubt, but I can't start the main partition wall until I know where the car will finally be located within the RV, it has to have some tolerance as there are likely 5? possible cars to transport on various trips, Tuscon SUV, 72 Barracuda, 72 Swinger), 62 Polara 500 (the longest), 62 Lancer GT (the shortest).
Not to worry, I have plenty of other items in process on the project.

Sounds like you could use a longitudinal pop-out/extendo-cab.

In 1962 we were dragging the gut in Salem, OR, in a red Valiant Station wagon. What color is the Lancer?
