I ran across this site and thread by accident, but I'm very glad I did.
Cool innovative ideas going on here ... Time to surf the forum.
And thanks for the aerodynamic pickup bed cap ... It brought me here

I'm new to this. Is your construction description posted on here somewhere?

Welcome minAirForce. I have never put up a construction description on this thread. Construction methodology would be best served by a video.
Basically, the Aerolid is constructed out of FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic).
The lamination schedule is one layer of one and one half ounce pressed fiberglass matt, then one layer 2mm Coremat, then one last layer of one and one half ounce pressed fiberglass matt. The roof also has some half inch urethane foam strips laminated in it for extra strength. Hope this helps.
I will say I have designed and built a modification to the Aerolid. Road tests are showing a consistant 25+ mpg! These tests have been conducted over the last three weeks over the same 200 mile route. My 2009 F-150, with it's 4.6 liter 3 valve per cylinder V-8, is rated at 20 mpg. I am seeing a consistant 25+ mpg at 70 mph. The Patent has been filed and hopefully someday there will be a reward instead of just all the work and legal fees. Aside from the legal fees, I love to build stuff anyway so it is not really work to me.

That's great news, Brett!
Hope you get your patent and then get rich licensing it, building it, or whatever.

Bondo, great work on the AeroCap. I recently purchased a 1995 F150, and after a weekend of driving it, a measly 185 miles, it was time to fill up again. 15MPG sucks.
I have read about your hardships, and milestones. It seems you still have a community willing to pay for this. I know manufacturing is not a one man job, perhaps you should focus on design. Gather a series of trucks and put your design to use. Make plans or blueprints that are easy to follow to allow the DIYer to make his own AeroCap. You could charge a nominal fee, and make the buyer sign a non-disclosure agreement. This could create at least some of the capitol you need and deserve. Basically you would be selling us the licensing to make your product for our selves. Then all the hard maths is done by you, and we get our long awaited AeroCaps. Then as more of them show up on the roads, with your website tattooed to them, more interest would be generated.
Just my two cents.

Make one for a Superduty 6.5' and I can give you tons of data on how it does at 70mph for 140 miles versus on a truck without it!
