I don't believe in Actual Gold Weight!

That was not the post that I was expecting to read today! That was stressful!

I am sure there will be a few more things to cause gas prices to go up like a rocket and down like a parachute. Imagine, though, if electric cars went mainstream. A wide selection of $25,000 and $30,000 electric cars and people looking for reasons to buy them, not excuses not to.

What would happen with gas prices then?

I've tried finding reasons to buy an EV, but I can't think of any.

If or when another gas price spike occurs, I'm armed with a 2003 Honda Insight and a 2013 Volt. I paid $2,100 for the Insight and am averaging 63 MPG. I paid $2,400 for the Volt and am averaging 99 MPG. I had a second 2000 Insight, but sold it for $2,000 after buying the Volt. I still can't believe I got the Volt for so cheap! I'm slowly making my way over to the EV world and it's pretty cool. I think if you can get into a sold EV or PHEV for less than $5k, it's worth the leap. It was tough to justify the Volt when comparing to an Insight when it's only going to save me $20/month on gas, but for only $2,400 I had to snag it!

Oil prices are guaranteed to spike again in the future, many times.

Either wars, OPEC, or environmental laws or any combination of them could lead to big spikes.

I had no idea I had been lurking for so long. I currently still drive as Eco-friendly as possible but that was also helped by moving and reducing my 40-mile drive to 3.8 miles!

Good luck all!
