Ethonal blended gas Vs. %100 gasoline

Has anybody noticed a difference in fueling up with E10 or E15 vs. fueling up with %100 gasoline when its available? Just looking for others input and ideas.

35.58 mpg with E10 ($3.35 gallon) $0.0941/mile

So E10's cheaper per mile, in 1000 miles it will save me about $1.

In my vehicles the difference in price is not worth the small increase in mileage. Maybe if the price difference was less than 20 cents a gallon, but no more that that amount.

I personally haven't noticed a drop in mileage from E10 from any of my vehicles. I'm sure its there, but its just not noticable. I know others will chime in with claims that it kills their mileage though. In reality every engine will react differently to a different formulation of gasoline.

I've heard alot about ethanol E20 and up damaging fuels systems too. Alot of gas stations in Michigan are allowed up to 20% before even posting it! I've had alot of luck with mobil gas, my wife gets around 25-28 city in her taurus 12 valve but using the discounted kroger gas up to $1.00 off she drops down to 19-22 it depresses me.

Ethanol affects "older" carbureted-engines far more than "newer" injected-engines, because carburetors are air-mass-ratio devices that can't "adjust" for the presence of ethanol, whereas, computer-control injected engines can/do by adjusting injection volume and ignition timing.

I've noticed as much as a 3 MPG difference, but it's usually around 2. As far as cost goes, it's a wash at the moment and ethanol free is hard to come by. The station I use is 20 miles from my house and I have less reasons now to go that direction, so E10 it is unless I'm in that area.

Couldn't you re-jet to adjust the volume? We had more real gas here when my Camaro was still on the road, but it was a little rich anyway on the bottom end. Maybe it will be okay?

...probably, but my understanding is that the actual percentage-of-ethanol in the gasoline 'blend' can/does vary with each different tanker truck delievery because the ethanol is "added" into the 'straight-stock' gasoline after its received from the delivery pipeline source, just prior to its delivery to the gas station (to reduce water absorption), so each state/locale has different proportions on an almost daily basis! Notice the labels typically read "...up to XX% alcohol..."

...so, carburetor adjustments made today probably wouldn't be as good or effective when you make your subsequent tank fill-up.

That discounted Kroger gas comes from the same facility that handles bp, sunoco, and speedway.
