Happy to help, I guess. He was friends with Von Dutch. Beyond the airbrushed T-shirts, he built a lot of trikes and cars, Tweedie Pie, Beatnik Bnadit as so on.... Prolly my favorite is the Surfite:

Asymmetrical cab for low Cd. Better than Jeremy Clarkson would have done.

All I remember about Frozen Rotors was it doubled the cost of the components. But they're on a car I need to sell, not the one I'm buying.

I was scrolling along on the 1G civic group on facebook and someone posted this video. I got permission to upload to youtube where it will hopefully be easier to find after I blurred out the daughter and license plate.

I never actually made another attempt at the center caps. I need to re-try the chrome powder coat and then try the red powder coat applied differently than last time as well as probably this.

I finally scanned the service manual. It took 3 hours and there was duplicate of 2 sections at the end (the hard copy had duplicate sections), but I scanned them how they were in the manual and didn't look for many differences. I did notice that the Emissions were different in some spots but since they were at the end of the manual I was ready to be done and didn't worry too much about it.

I couldn't get it to preview so you will have to download it. It also is actually for the 73 model year with a 74 supplement. Something I didn't notice, but I hope that for the most part it is accurate.

My favorite 2 finds were "drivershafts" and the section about how much pressure the wiper blades are supposed to put on the windshield.

M_a_t_t, that's a really well done scan. I love it that you included notes pages filled with 1977 notes. Nice service to the old Hondas community of modders/restorers, I think. Much respect.

One thing about the brake master cylinder:

Brake fluid, as you probably know, is hygroscopic. It sucks water out of any air that it comes into contact with. That can lead to rust in iron or steel parts of the system, like the inside of the master cylinder. There used to be stainless-steel sleeves that could be pressed into a bored-out master cylinder to serve as the bearing surface for the seals.

It's possible that your refurbished MC may wind up leaking after several uses, is what I'm saying. Keep an eye out for it.

Thanks. I noticed there was 2 sections that seemed identical, but rather than try to figure out what was what I just scanned it as is. I can always re-order the pages if I figure it out. I posted it on the first gen civic facebook group as well so hopefully it was worth the effort.

I will definitely keep an eye on it, but the master is aluminum bodied so I'd assume it's fine in that regard and I didn't see any pitting/scoring in the bore so hopefully it will be fine. I bought a lathe so worst case maybe I could try making a sleeve for it? Will come to that if it happens I guess.

To be honest I don't really know much about Jiri, just saw a qoute in a Škoda museum from him and liked it. Yes, I translated it using google translate (hopefully it didn't mess it up ) I thought it was more interesting that way.

I have not done much with the Civic. However, the city wants me to do something with it. So I vacuumed the car out. Found about half of the original tool kit, a coat hangar, and some tweezers in the trunk. There was a pool of water in the scissor jack cut out under the spare tire. Honestly I'm surprised it was able to hold water in it. Planning on putting it in the garage because it is the only one that will fit with my tools and 1 of the motorcycles in there.




I have #'s 3, 14 (I think?), 7, 8, and 13.
