Does the paint bleed through the brown paper or something? I don't get it....

No, the brown paper is more pulpy and fibrous, and it "sheds" fibers that can get into your paint job. White paper is less pulpy and fibrous and dosen't shed.

I have some updated pics today. I FINALLY got the car painted. I have a pic here of the car with just the PPG Envirobase waterborne base coat, a pic of the car all finished outside, and I threw in a pic of the front bumper, which I painted some time ago, but worked on the "piano finish" today, which is just sanding the clear flat and buffing it out so you have a glass smooth clear surface that looks like a show car. Not sure it shows up in the photo though.

PPG Envirobase (waterborne) basecoat. It's a GM formula they call Victory Red. Applied with Iwata LPH-400 LV-X;

PPG Deltron DC4010 Clearcoat, applied with Sata RP3000 Digital;

Sanded flush with 3M 1500 grit dry on a DA sander, then sanded wet with 3000 grit 3M Trizact. Polished out with 3M Perfect it Compound with the white foam pad, then 3M Perfect it Swirl Mark Remover with the black foam pad. 1 coat of 3M liquid wax;

Well, the car is all done and put back together, but the weather has been terrible, preventing me from taking any nice vanity pics. WHAH!

Nice!

Wow! That 'Teg looks showroom new -- great work. I'm taken back in time to high school when I saw these new!

Ours has nicks, scratches, dents, dings, and rust after a full repaint a few years ago from hail damage (then a roof coat following a collision with a sheet of ice off of a tractor-trailer, which demolished the windshield and bent a few panels).

Sadly, as the 3rd car, we dropped the comprehensive insurance on it, so no more hail damage re-paints. Teggy is actually my daily driver until the Teaching year is over (my wife sorta stole my hybrid until June )

It's a great car to drive, even being 13 years old with 150K.

So what are the plans for the fresh, like-new ride?

Got some more vanity pics for anyone interested.

Also, a quick note, have any of you notieced that changing where you fill up can change your economy? The best Eco-Mod I've found for my specific car so far was to stop using cheap gas stations and start filling up at 76. I stopped tracking my exact fuel economy, but I'm ripping off 400 mile tanks pretty consistently now, which I had a hard time doing before.

Import tuner has a project car that is a eco integra. Look at that car for inspiration.

I'm really suprised at the EPA and actual mileage figures. I had a 94 GSR with IHE mods that always got 31 mpg. Never better, never worse with about 50/50 mixed driving. With the taller gearing on the LS I would think mid 30's all the time would be the norm. I'm sure you could get 38-42 with a standard civic d15/d16 with the lx transmission and better with a cx/vx transmission. The lean burn motor would be more of a pain to swap IMO. The shape of the integra looks much more slippery than the hatchback civics which should equate to better highway mpg. Not sure your Integra is that much better looking than the vx though.

Here's one I restored.
