Looking back over Don Sherman's 'Drag Queens' article,he mentions that the Tesla has active suspension and that they measured it in the lowest position.
The M-B CLA 180 blue-efficiency has 'lower' suspension/A-pillars/ and rear,compared to the regular CLA,but not 'active' suspension,which could give the Tesla an edge.
The drag of the Porsche 914 could vary up to 18% according to ground clearance.
And Mr. Gary Eaker of the A2 Wind Tunnel I think commented upon the Cd of the HOT ROD Magazine's 1970 Camaro as a function of G.C..
Ford's Probe-IV used active suspension to achieve Cd 0.154 or so.

CLA 250 undertray

I made a still from the youtube video:



Nice. And notice that the front wheel wells are more open than the rear, and that the exhaust pipe channel is not covered.

Compare with messier 2012 Civic hybrid undertray:

MB's air sucking and blowing device comes at a penalty; the belly pan can't be anything near as smooth as the Tesla's.

I'm puzzled about the front diffuser. I'd expect it would be better to divert air away from the front rather than channel it in like this seems to do, but maybe it just functions like an air dam this way.
Then again, an air dam ahead of the mother of all belly pans?
Is it so good that the air better be directed under the center of the car than towards the wheel wells?

I was confused at first too, then I realized I wasn't looking at a front diffuser.... Hard to know if it's coming or going without seeing the usual bits of a sucking and blowing device

Do you have a reference for this sucking/blowing device? I've combed through Daimler's press releases and website information (like this) and haven't seen any reference to it there or in the automotive press.

Here's a clearer illustration of the undertray, from Daimler:



The front doesn't look like anything special, aside from larger-than-typical airdams in front of the wheels.

OMG - I thought it was too obvious to miss... the ICE does that!
All in good fun, sorry you missed the joke.
The effect of taking air in at front and blowing it out through the exhaust is really there; but it is very small. It is not the prime objective of using an ICE

But when it comes to belly pan design, it becomes serious as Tesla does not have a hot exhaust trajectory to worry about.

You are right - there isn't a front diffuser.

The shades below the sides of the lowest grill slit seemed to be the downfolding edges of a diffuser, but it is just reflection.
There is a slight fold there, raising the middle part, probably for ground clearance.
The marks on it show it still hit something.
