IIRC the drill press was where I was headed when the mechanic said he could fix it or at least remove the lock cylinder.

The new switch was [apparently] soldered directly to the cable, whereas the 1990 model has push-on connectors.

But it's raining so I don't want to go outside and check.

So [yesterday] I washed the XFi and aired up the tires. I just put 151 miles on it with a fill at the beginning and end.

43.3MPG. I tried to hold it down to 75. Driving around town, with the older tires, it will rattle an hum at 65, but after a half hour it wants to go 75 at the same throttle setting. After an hour I had to hold it back.

The inner tie rods ends will get replaced when the parts arrive, then I can get the front end aligned and some Continentals on that end. I had to replace the rear tires and they aligned the rear, but they won't touch the front until the tie rods ends are up to spec.

I entered it in a car show and won my class! The competition was two first gen Mustangs, a 1964 Ford station wagon, a (nice) 1948 Jeep pickup and a motorcycle. I took the Open class; the entry form said Open was for swathers and riding lawn mowers.

Or it didn't happen?

I just got a $50 Polaroid digital camera, so it is possible again.

The wheels are currently red oxide primer, but I've got rattle cans to two-tone them; so any pictures would be before and after. I'll get on that.

I just had the four tie-rod ends and their boots replaced. No difference in how it drives, but now I can spend money on a front end alignment that will make no discernible difference.

Hmmm never had front end work NOT make a noticeable difference. Couple of times it made life worse, and currently in the F250 I notice a tendency to wander, but in a very precise manner.
