Your hitting the MPG ground running. The Del-Slow is a great platform for MPG. In gas-crunch 2008 someone sold a Del-Sol with a VX drivetrain :

Here are some pictures to play with :

They are very similar, but there are more differences than you'd expect. The D16Y8 and D16Y5 also have a different intake manifold, a knock sensor, EGR, different ECU programming, shorter gearing, and of course significant wiring harness differences to go along with these. My engine is also a D16Y7, like this "Del Slow" and I have been curious about a conversion (I think it is too difficult for the benefit).

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

Wiring is similar with both motors the only difference is the O2 sensor even the Y7 with the different manifold can be converted it helps if your hobby is wiring Hondas but usually putting in bigger motors this is my first time doing the complete opposite

Edit: and the EGR wiring is not their but with good ecu pinouts all can be added

Well why don't you try and keep the 15inch wheels on there but get steel wheels and smooth hub caps so you keep the lower rpms and lower drag. Just an option for ya

Those are rare WITH the center caps.. Dont let those go for cheap... And if you can get a hold of a set the VX or HX set of wheels is the way to go for weight..

I love those wheels just sold my other set with my CR-X

Really want Hx wheels but unfortunately they are hard to find everyone wants them and Vx wheels don't fit Del Sol Vtec
