Back from spain - Diesel there was 1.36 Euro a litre, back to the UK its now £1.39 a litre which is about $9 I think (roughly) a gallon. Luckily our supermarket is running a promotion which lops £0.03 a litre off when you buy your shopping over a certain value there. So one more bottle of nice plonk = £5 of a fill up for Mrs A's Octavia.

...I'm just in a good mood, as the price of gas finally hit $4.xx in Buffalo. Not just at the expensive stations, either. It's unanimous among stations I passed on my way to work.

We've avoided the $4 line so far in Bloomington, IN this year, but we've been hovering at $3.96 to $3.99 for awhile now.

Can't speak for anyone else, but it sure seems like gas is still about $2/gallon too LOW... because it still sounds like a Dukes of Hazzard rerun around here, which you'd think would be in the middle of nowhere. My old neighborhood in the middle of Minneapolis had less commotion than this **** hole.

$6 gas... yeah baby!

Why stop at $6 per gallon?

Why not $10? $12? $20? $50?

How do you benefit from the price rising?

Indeed. It sounds like a few people here are taking pleasure at watching the economy stall. All of their friends must easily be able to pay for gas and food.

Maybe they have an uncle who is the sheik of Araby. Or an OPEC honcho. Or maybe they are heavily invested in oil stocks.

But that would be assuming they have a motive of rational self interest. Probably not.

More likely they want the economy to slow down to a standstill, as some form of punishment or retribution. And that is usually a knee-jerk response, in support of a party line, political ideology.
