That's a more precise breakdown of what I clumsily referred to all organizing units as "tribe". My usage can include sports teams, or the many other organizational units of people.

I recently heard of a ritual where the winning sports team (or was it just the captain) was sacrificed at the conclusion of the game, and it was considered an honor, or something.

My point being that any way of organizing people is susceptible to horrific practices.

Then there are the four extraterrestrial circuits.

Self -- infant
family -- toddler
tribe --student
nation-state -- post-pubescent

Don't forget the 5th terrestrial circuit; the Swiftie.

That one fell kinda flat for me.

I had some conversation recently on the general subject of personal defense. This, here, isn't my concern, I don't carry a purse (cross my heart), but this is probably the very best video from one of my favorite Youtubers. I watch him probably as much as the ontopic cartoonist.

Starts out with an introductory video that's a hoot ("...you unstable creatures"), then Point #2 turns into an ad for Blackout Safety Earplugs (if your going to stick something in your ear anyways), and he humorously concludes with slyly letting fatties off the hook.

I was aiming for something beyond post pubescent, but still immature. Probably more relevant to me since my best local friends are a decade younger and Swiftie's themselves (keeping in mind almost all my friends are left of center). I count myself among admirers, but only the original country stuff. I'd accept no advice from her other than how to become a pop sensation, which unfortunately I have no interest in.

I'll give it a watch.

We're on the subject of tools, and those who are honorable, skilled, and disciplined should wield the best tools.

I EDC a knife, and use it multiple times a day on average. That tool serves multiple roles including weapon, but it's only weaponized as needed, which fortunately has been never.

Over time, I consider myself to be among the better wielders of destructive devices (funny considering that's precisely the felonious charges against me). It's almost as if my good upbringing and corrective punishment actually accomplished aim of producing a better citizen.

Just for fun, I'll throw this idea out there, that the removal of the 2A right AFTER an individual has completed "restorative justice" is an indictment of that institution. Shouldn't those subjected to the most confinement and training be the best among us, considering we're blank slates merely requiring the correct programming?

Tangent thought considering my left of center friends, my only Libertarian friend Nick was recently a feature in the "news".

The interesting thing is he was anti-gun up until recently. His nature tends towards pacifism. I once struck him in the face, and he apologized (and I did too).

I EDC an Opinel #9 French Gardener's knife. Same one since 1975. I took it home, sanded off the varnish and rubbed it in my hand for four days. The finish hasn't changed since.

The only thing it's good for is closing on your hand.

I was pacifist until the government started sending me $1200 checks in the mail. Something snapped.

edit: I was closing tabs and ran across this: phys.org/news: California is about to tax guns more like alcohol and tobacco—and that could put a dent in gun violence

So what was a Constitutionally-protected right is now a vice, or taxable sin.

I opened two of those stories, but I was dismayed that the now 13 counties doesn't include Coos Bay. I was hoping Greater Idaho would take the whole State of Jefferson and have a sea port.

Nothing stands in the SA episode today, so I'll post this video on Japanese civilization. I wish he'd give more time to let the profundity of what is said sink in, and to read or describe the extra graphics he throws in so that listeners don't miss as much.

Here were 2 graphics I found interesting. Had to capture them from the video since I didn't get results in an image search.

His claim is that Japan stands as the sole example in the world of a wealthy country that practices a high degree of collectivism.

Youtube wanted me to watch this. I'm through the preview so far.

I need to reframe my brain on hoarding junk.

This doesn't belong anywhere, so I'll post it here. It has everything I dislike; art, diorama art, history, celebrities, disjointed comedy and randomness; I was completely fascinated and watched the rest of his videos.
