Well, I bought tubes today at a decent price ($10 ea).

But then I discovered the valve stem hole on the wheel isn't quite in the right spot for the tubes!

AND THEN I discovered that someone has maybe already tried gooping the tires to seal them: there was a not small amount of greasy snotslime inside it when I got the bead off the wheel.

So I'm taking a chance on the valve/hole misalignment. I put the inner tube in with the somewhat off-kilter valve angle and aired it up. As long as there's adequate pressure (no movement of the stem against the edge of the valve hole), it shouldn't chafe through.

Also, the wheel wouldn't come off the axle (rusted together), so I had to do all this on the machine. Fun fun.

I might have bought those airless wheels if I'd known about them first! It's almost like we're living in the future.

So if the wheel is rusted on the axle so it won't come off, how are you going to replace it with a solid?

Now that you're done, drilling out the valve hole a bit would prevent chafe

I actually thought of that! (Or drilling a new hole.) But I didn't do it because I was concerned about leaving a burr on the inside that I wouldn't be able to easily remove. Since I couldn't get the wheel off, I could only break the outside bead, which meant I couldn't move the tire enough out of the way for easy access to the inside of the wheel.

I could get a 3x more expensive tube with a bendy valve in the correct position, but I'd have to order it, and I'm getting (more) lazy and impatient!

Today...

First oil change ever (probably), and a new sparky!

holy weather checks, Batman!

Now that I can finally get some more air pressure in the tire...

Check out these checks!!

Good thing this is a low speed machine. I would NOT feel safe taking this snowblower out on the highway.

I can honestly say that's the worst looking tire I've ever seen still in use. May the odds be ever in your favor!

^ NO thank you. Snow testing can wait.

While I'm waiting for the carb kit to arrive...

The second-to-last thing to do is patch up the fuel tank & cap. Squirrel chewed it, if you can believe it:

Why would a tree rat want to get in there??

It's said some people have gasoline flowing in their veins. Some squirrels want it flowing in their bellies?
