What your doing would allow a complete 3-D analysis for anyone interested in mimic'ing the Dolphin.Or any like analyzed vehicle.Truly amazing tool!

I would love to build a wind tunnel for scale model testing. I've read that the smaller the model the higher the wind speed must be (for comparable Re) which doesn't compute on some level...

Possible CFD with SketchUp models!

My son tells me that there is a pre-alpha version of a CFD program related to a Half Life 2 plugin, called Garry's Mod is being developed. The key thing that makes this very interesting, is that it will be able to convert SketchUp models and run them in a 3D wind tunnel!

I'm hoping to hear more about the development of this program, and maybe ask to be a beta tester! If anybody else has heard about this, or knows more about it -- I'm all ears!

Re is length times speed, so the calculation is pretty simple to compensate for reduced size. Since the model does not have as much time to mess with the air, it has to try harder.

Thanks, Bob. When Orville and Wilbur developed the aerodynamics of flight they used winglets an order of magnitude smaller. Did their wind tunnel generate an order of magnitude more speed to compensate, or was Re matching not necessary between scale models and real world?

The Wright Bros' experiments were more accurate than those of previous experimenters, but still quite approximate. That is one reason that the rounded leading edge came a bit later.
