Thanks for this thread folks. It makes me feel a whole lot better. I was easily pulling 34 mpg on my Aveo this summer and I'm lucky to pull 28 now. I thought there was something wrong with my car. I did not realize that the temperature had such an effect on MPG. I'm just glad nothing is wrong with my car and this is a normal effect of the cold.

Good info. Thanks.

I have not yet seen a drop in FE from my 47 in the metro (and I have been dreading it) BUT I did not start driving it till November (ok October 29th) when I got the car so its possible we were already on winter blend and that I might see a nice boost come spring (fingers crossed)

I swear there is no FE justice. Friday I dragged a Uhaul trailer 150 miles empty, and returned with my son's 94 Explorer on the trailer. Temps were 20-25 through the day.. And the F150 returned... 14MPG... Roundtrip. No justice...

bummer man, it sucks when you just can't do anything to make it better. I've been in that boat before.

But on the return trip you had two vehicles for the same mileage, effectively doubling your mileage.

I could get extraordinary mpgs if I could get someone to tow me around most of the time.

Sure little flea have it it.

Pullsup 5 feet behind big rig, extend magnetic grapple arms, "snick" shuts down engine and cruises :-) hehe

Now that would be outstanding, except it would be my luck that I would latch on to a truck that blows out a tire 30 miles down the road and the 90 lbs of radial smashes in the front of my vehicle and rips out the driveshaft and exhaust on it's way under. :P

meh they don't use retreads anymore. I used to see those chunks all over the road ways. Have not seen any in years. I have been "tagged" by a few chunks before. Its scary but never does any damage. Its moving I am moving its all relative so it seems much scarier than it really is.
