I have always run max sidewall pressure in a pickup. If it says 51 psi max, run 51 psi. If it says 80 psi max, run 80 psi. Never had the outer edges or the middle wear faster. YMMV.

It's a 8 ply rated commercial tire that has noticeable tread bulges and sags at different pressures/ loadings. Neither of these arguments have convinced me. When I run mfr recommended pressure the edges wear out first on the front, the centers go on the rears.

5.94% increase in mpg :O
for free
went from 26.9 to 28.5mpg

I was running 50 spi in my 2016 F150 and with 43k miles I had 1/32" less tread in the center so I dropped it to 45 psi. I average around 25 mpg on HWY with 2.7 ECO Boost, 4X4 and 3.55 rear end.
