Suzuki GS550 outfitted with diesel engine / CVT

How did I miss this thread over the years??
Anyway, the Changzuki (Changfa 406 diesel) was shoehorned into the Suzuki GS550 frame, outfitted with a modified Comet CVT and geared to suit. Average consistent mpg (mixed driving) was/is 115 mpg. Below 45 mph 150-160 is normal. It's a pack mule and will also pull small logs during wood cutting season!

I use to have a ww2 dodge and jeep but had to sell them n I've always liked the us mil bikes.....
I call it a Hondadavidson, its got a ww2 HD rear light, repro HD/Indian seat, repro saddlebags and the canvas apron n screen keeps the weather off nicely, not sure on if it helps with aerodynamics of it but hey ho ;-)

I've never been able to ride motorbikes economically unless I was low on fuel as it is so tempting to ride them fast. Cars are no problem but motorcycles are real tempting.

I mean the whole purpose of a motorbike is fun, right?

I sold my 2018 Honda CRF250L to help with the downpayment on my house....

The best I ever got was 76-78mpg (US), all highway, low rpm shifts, very gentle throttle, 75 kmh...it was fun bike

Nice!! Under what conditions/speeds/techniques?

Thanks for bumping this thread - I missed the last bunch of updates.

I can't believe I did not know about the Honda Monkey, for example. That's a big marketing fail on Honda's part. Such an approachable, fun-looking little machine. I haven't had a bike since my first [and only] Ninja 250, and while I knew about the Grom, and it stirred some interest, the Monkey's charisma is even more compelling.

Normal driving not trying to get that mileage at all. I have been pulling the throttle as much as I can and still getting 110-120s. This tank I’m trying to get above the what Honda claims of 134.
