When we rent those Arcris, charging is at your place.

Perhaps the electrons are heavier or more voluminous across the river?

What really needs to happen is make that federal tax incentive available to all even those with zero tax liability. Then if they also made it point of sale even better. Of course if that happens there would be no $5000 incentive from Chrysler you can bet. May even have dealer mark ups like on the Rav4 Prime.

You are right though, a beater with a heater will almost always be the least expensive thing to drive. Especially if you figure no finance cost and no full coverage insurance. If you can do repairs even better.

When GM tax credits ended, they massively dropped the price; like $10k on the Bolt. It's cheaper to buy a new Bolt now than stacking all the tax credits before.

Manufacturers should be motivating people to purchase their vehicles by making them awesome and affordable, not the government subsidizing wealthy people to purchase vehicles they otherwise wouldn't get at the expense of the public. Why should we give $7,500 to someone to purchase a Tesla instead of a Toyota Corolla?

Anyhow, at least if the credit was "refundable", it wouldn't be a subsidy only for the wealthy. Refundable credits like the first time homebuyer credit pay out the difference if one doesn't have enough tax liability. The IRS cut me an $8,000 check to purchase a house.

I don't begrudge anyone for legally taking advantage of something, even if it's a dumb idea.

SUB gets its electrons from the Columbia, EWEB from the McKenzie.

But your paying for the billing system. It gets worse, in Walterville, my friends have land bisected by the Power Canal, but they can't so much as drop in a paddle wheel and freeload off EWEB.

Paddling the N Santiam I've eyed a few properties with streams flowing in. There would be no water rights issues for such small streams, and the elevation change enough to warrant a micro-hydro system.

Lets say it's in my 10 year plan. Wondering if the fire will prompt a fire sale on properties?

What's worst, those same friends have year round running water on their Eastern property line. There is a broken down dam from the 1940s. I've suggested Ram-Jack type pumped concrete to lift the settled side back into place.

I even gave them parts for a gravity vortex water mill. But they're in thrall to the idiot box, no will to save themselves.

After some sleep, I figure with $.10 electric, $3 gas, 20 mpg old van, 30 mpg new van, it's easiest to figure $.15 per mile old, $.10 per mile new gas, and $.05 per mile new electric. So saves $.10 per mile to drive EV and $.05 per mile to drive gas. The van keeps track of the total EV and gas miles separate so it will be easy to figure later. Until gas goes up again...

Sounds right to me.

I was getting something like 70% EV miles in my 13 mile range plug-in Prius because that was exactly my round trip commute distance.

With 30 miles EV range, I'd probably have been at 80% EV miles.

Even though most people say minivans look boring, the Pacifica looks nice.
