yep, that is what most states have. some require a drivers side mirror, but it does not have to be on the out side.
All I will say is make sure you can still see ok. I can and have not missed the pass mirror.

all right, I'll look into that one as well. although I'm a bit worried about traveling from state to state... if it's legal to have both on the inside in OH and in VA the driver's one has to be exterior, what happens there?

you might have an issue there, but then I would just say it is ok to have it this way in my state...... and see what happens, I bet you would be off with just a warning. For the first few months I just left the mirror in my car. I can reattach it in about 3 min. so if they complain put it back on at the next stop.

does anyone make mirrors designed to function as an interior side view mirror? or does one have to fab something up

I just used a convex mirror I bought at meijer. it was desined to be a blind spot mirror. I just put it right up next to the glass on the inside (see my pics in the wiki page). it shows me my blind spot better then the OEM one, but it is not as good for long distances.

mirrors
At close to 100 mph,the Southern California Timing Assoc.couldn't measure any difference in top speed of my Civic, whether mirrors on,or mirrors off. That's to 1/1000 mph accuracy.
They're so good they're not worth messing with.Just my opinion.
Unfortunately for you,the mods that would actually help you are the ones your set against. The back of your car is 'wrong' and that's where its drag is.Very little of what you do at the front will make a difference at the pump.Unless it was extremely radical.

Solid ABA testing of my matrix showed a 1.6 MPG gain from removing the side mirror.
You are right, a Kammback or boat tail would help a bunch and is very doable on any car.

My results may only be germane with respect to the Civic coupe architecture.Since Exec also has a Civic I thought the data might dovetail.I pulled both my mirrors at Bonneville. No difference.SCTA times the official FIA world record LSR cars. There exists no more accurate test data.
Some production car mirrors have been reported at 'net-zero' drag.

you have a civic coupe aerohead? I'll try to throw up a pic sometime so everyone knows exactly what i"m talking about. I'm still unsure how a kammback applies to coupe/sedan architecture
