THe shift to pure diesel (rather than teh 30% veg oil) appears to have cured all starting ills
Suggesting its a bit cold to lump 15L veg in the bottom of a nearly empty tank- more thought required..

Excellent- looks very similar to my commute this morning..
but my 90 degrees temp on the engine meant I was warm, and the car may be on for a good tank (esp as the easter holidays means less traffic on the road)

I was warm as well but snow was falling horizontally you can't see that on the pic, and that was a bit scary, because it was moving faster than my car

Unfortunately, I will be upping the challenge toward the end of next month (April)... 6,000 miles of freeway driving, which means my tank FE will be as best as it can be. Last year, the same trrip gave me a tank high of ~68mpg! Obviously looking to beat that this year...

Filled up today; good tank! 59.9mpg (3.9l/100km) which included some long freeway trips and a bit of errand-running. Amazing what a difference it makes when I drive the car vs my wife...

If only you could park her, then know she'll start again once you've had a month's break..
on topic though, the thermostat seems to be helping fuel economy in the golf, but I've now got 4 days off for easter, so will be a while til tank is empty..
all this "roadtrip" talk has me looking enviously at the maps..

I've filled up Berta again and regardless that first awful ~500km I've managed to get even better FE than with previous tank.
40 liters on 1054km
3.8 L/100 km
61.96 mpg (US)
74.42 mpg (Imp)
Not bad! Not bad at all
Don't you think so? I'm still #8 but I'm getting closer to Helga...
I wish I could have more 60+ tanks...
