I'd like to see more about shifting without using the clutch.

Imo, tint has both advantage and disadvantage at night. Yes it cuts the intensity of headlights. But it hinders backing and the ability to see out the side window in low light or no light areas areas, the reduction in visibility depends on the level of tint. Sure is great during sunny days.

Someone with tinted windows backed into my pristine Microbus in a parking lot at dusk back in the day. They had tinted windows. I made sure to point that out to the insurance companies. They paid me 100%. I may have even made a comment to the guy to take that tint out if he wanted to see where he was going. I've gotten a couple of cars from young guys that I had to depimp... I mean, remove the tint from.

There are tints available (usually for $$$) that block UV but barely affect visible light.

I got quoted some 450 euro for the rear windows on my wagon.
I can burn a lot of gas to run the AC for that kind of money.

zonker, regarding your comment on modifying the list to say its only worth turning off the engine if you will be idling for 10 seconds. The list already says that its best to turn off engine if you will be idling for a few seconds and the optimal time to keep the engine on compared to turning it off would vary between cars. Feel free to put the comment in the wiki but i dont think it is worth getting that specific in the ecomodder list page

johnlvs2run if you have a specific suggestion about shifting without clutch i am all ears, I can change the ecomodder pages as the admins (metrompg and svoboy) gave me and weatherspotter the ability to change these to align with the wiki.
I unfortunately do not drive a manual so i do not know details about gains from shifting without the clutch but if you start a thread on it and point me or weather spotter to it or if you write a wiki page on it we will get it put into the list.

Also for anyone else that has a new idea for the hypermilling or ecomodding list please let us know, i do not monitor these threads so feel free to pm me or place it in the wiki and if everyone thinks its worthwhile it will get into the ecomodder site lists.

I will agree that the stock tint on the back window of my Jeep makes backing up in the dark a bit tough. The fix is a set of secondary reverse lights, but positioned lower so they're not blinding to other people. With the extra light, you can still see well enough, and of course, being careful counts too.

One tip that could go into the A/C and accessories section is that many vehicles automatically turn on the A/C for you whenever air is directed onto the windscreen, figuring that you must be in a high humidity zone (typically the Amazon delta) if you need defogging. I just love trying to melt ice off the glass at -20 with the A/C on. As if fuel consumption isn't bad enough in a cold car. I wonder if it makes sense to remove the A/C relay for the duration of the (Canadian) winter.

My car does that, but there's an easy button to turn AC on and off. I think all cars should have that option - AC off whatever the combination of other settings.
