Sounds like it could be fixed temporary with a Porta John and some water bottles left in the sun.
It could be a money pit, but isn't renting.

The neighbor said that it had a weird layout, but I may have been exposed to coronavirus yesterday, so I am staying home even more than before. However, I will still make too much to claim unemployment. Apparently I need to ask my boss to withhold some pay so I can make $269.50 and pick up $717 in unemployment.

I may just call up every realtor that I can find to ask about the house on my street. It isn't listed for sale, but if I just get one realtor to try to earn thousands of dollars, I might get a sweet deal, or at least a short move.

The house down the street is owned by an investment company hours away. I cannot find a phone number, but two different addresses in different towns.

How many rentals have lockboxes?

rentals here in reno now sport keyboxes because it allows many clients unfettered but traceable access without contacting the owner.

Your state has an index of corporations online with their contact data. So do Delaware and Nevada, the two big incorporation states

I just highlighted "index of corporations" from your post, right-clicked, searched, and Google recommended the Arizona Corporation Commission.

I know one of the people on that!

I went back to Navajo County's property tax site and got the company name. I put that into the corporation commission site and it said "The record you have selected is from the Arizona Secretary of State's Database. For detailed information on please click the link listed below."

It had information for other companies. It shows my LLC and the one that my dad had. Bizarrely, allegedly the lady hired to set up LLCs set up mine as in my brother's name.

I never mentioned him to her. So, she just got my name wrong and happened to get my brother's name?

Well, the corporation commission shows my name and the secretary of state's site shows the same information that I found elsewhere for the investment company, although it also says that its business partner is a management company at the same address. It does not give a number for them, either, and neither of those business names show up when I search for that address, but maybe if I search for the management company's name I will get a phone number.

Meanwhile, I already found a phone number.

The address is a filing cabinet in a lawyer's office.

In a disused lavatory in the basement? Does the door have a sign saying "Beware of the leopard?"

So, there I was, pulling weeds in the front yard, when a U-Haul pulled up next door. Some people that I didn't recognize put some stuff in it, but surprisingly little, more stuff in the back of a pickup, but still not very much, and then pulled a boat out of the garage with a few things in that.

Did our neighbor's kid stay there temporarily with his small family? Why didn't the neighbor help them move or see them off?

Is the house vacant?

The friendly neighbor on the other side was out front, so I asked if he knew anything.

No.

I later saw that the neighbor on the other side [of the possibly-vacant house] was in his yard so I asked him.

He never met her.

I mentioned to the friendly neighbor that the other house was a vacant rental and he responded "Oh really?! My son is looking for a place to rent! I will have him give them a call!"

So, maybe that opportunity will go to someone else, but perhaps there is another even closer. I got on my laptop to update you guys and happened to see that a new house posted on Zillow. It sounds like it is also outside of town, but it is only a few miles away.

Zillow said the ad was 13 minutes old.

There was another new posting, but it was a two-bedroom.

Leopard. The display department is kind of hard to find. The sign is kind of silly, considering that the lights don't work and the stairs had fallen, but every little bit helps.

The reason you can't find out how to contact the owner is that the owner doesn't want to be contacted by everyone who can open a Google tab. He may not want the entire world knowing that he owns so many properties, and he may not want his golfing buddies to come across just how minimal his "holdings" actually are (see: Trump, Donald J). So the rental isn't owned by him, but by his LLC. And when you look up the LLC, it wasn't created by him, but by a lawyer- and that's the dead end for all your contact information searches.

So his next door neighbor doesn't know how rich he is and his rich friends don't know how rich he isn't.
