Are we being manipulated or what???
Most people are under the impression that this whole thing will blow away - it will not. prices are too easily manipulated. Also too many are sacrificing to keep their cars/trucks/houses. This WILL eventually lead to a major (oil induced) depression.
It does not look good in the long/short run.
BTW even if our vehicles got 1000MPG, they would charge us $150/gal. - cant win.

No. The price changes every day the market is open.

Here, among people on this website, we need to start thinking and acting on home-grown fuel sources, particularly algae-based biodiesel.

Take some time on YouTube and research keywords "algae" and "biodiesel."

Your last sentence is the perfect example of why we're not being manipulated If everyone on this site got even 5000mpg, it's not going to magically change a global economy Global markets are pushed around by.... wouldn't ya know, global events... A lot more happens in the world compared to what happens on my cross streets

That's something I could really get excited about. I'd love to throw my grass clippings into a vat at one end and fill my car up at the other, whether it's biodiesel or ethanol.

However, it's complex, even when the pros do it: http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/05...age-in-the-uk/

Moving on up. Oil hit $129.46

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12400801/

I was actually expecting oil to drop a bit today because I heard on the news this morning that the gov. was going drop the amount of oil in the stratigic reserve.

Too bad a person needs to buy a minimum of 1,000 barrels of oil to invest in crude oil stock If only I had $130K kicking around...

If you can make hooch, you can make ethanol. While stills are illegal, they aren't difficult to operate. I suppose the difficulty might come from using unorthodox source material.

You can also create methane by building a biogas digester. Essentially, organic waste (feces, food scraps, lawn clippings) is placed into a large container devoid of oxygen. Anaerobic bacteria decompose the material and produce CH4 and CO2 as byproducts.

The easiest solution would be to install a solar array on trackers and build an electric car. Solar panels are much more efficient than photosynthesizing plants. Just from brainstorming, a 1/2 acre in a semiarid environment should be all the land anyone needs to live a completely sustainable and modern life. Natural gas, electricity, water, and food can all be generated in sufficient quantities at home.

Oil is over $130 now. I would be surprised if gas doesn't go up today or tommorow.
