Yep oil hit a new record. That makes it 5 days of record highs in a row!

Gas is high, Diesel is high, but the real killer is home heating oil. Is there an ecomodder for the home - like some areodynamic fin you could put on your roof to get more house FE.

i saw in Pennsylvania a device the use that is an outdoor furnace that burns wood - any experience with this??

You remember $1.20 gas? The lowest I ever remember filling for (back in 2002) was 'wild Wednesday' where gas was $0.629 a litre ($2.39 a gallon). Even in 1992 gas was $0.529 a litre ($2.01 a gallon) here in Regina.

I guess the prices are more expensive in Canada. Gas was around $1.20 a gallon from as early as I can remember (1990ish) until 2002. It did go under a dollar ($0.89) for a short time in 1999.

I remember $0.58/gal. It always goes up, and always will until it's either gone or we switch to something else. Ive gotten sick of it and switched to the train.

njlou: you're right. I need to find another way to heat my home. hmmmm......

Insulation...a lot of insulation.

Heating a drafty home seems really wasteful...the equivalent of cooling your food with a doorless refrigerator. One of the first places I'd look is at the attic, door seals, and windows. Get creative.

With a masonry heater and insulation, you should only need a minute fraction of the energy the average person uses today.

Filled up the Benz with diesel today.... $4.33 a gallon !!!!! need less to say I filled up half way and chalked the 1/2 tank of air up to weight reduction.. luckily I only need to add diesel 1 time a month at most. Got 1200 mile off my last 1/2 tank so I'm not complaining to bad but still $4.33 a gallon.. 1 year ago it was under $2.80.. less than gas was then..

I can understand the diesel prices swelling in the winter with fuel oil production etc.. but they usually fall below gas prices in the summer..

Oh well, the veggie is still free
