the depression is on like Donkey Kong!!!

There saying $7.50 a gallon with in a year... Home heating costs this winter are going to be double over last year ..

The huge amounts of flooding this year are going to make crop prices skyrocket, heck the corn here in a non flooded area is usualy knee hight by the 4th of july.. its a little taller than my ankles now.. very poor

get ready its not going to get better any time soon

well optimistically, were prepared more so than many people.. we know how to get better MPG's and most of us here have high MPG vehicals already .. Can't see how anyone could afford to be driving SUV's at $7.50 a gallon 200+ bucks to fill a tank .. holly crap. thatt and if they don't downsize before it too lat wont be able to afford a small efficient car becuase of there 200+ dollar fillups.

Well at least the SUV'ers can go to work on monday and camp in there car in the parking lot all week and then go home for the weekends.. that would save some fuel. they got all the room, use it.

our local dealership offered us employee pricing, plus an additional $6000 of that price if we bought a fullsize SUV.. and $5000 off employee pricing on any full size pickup.. and they finance it for 72 months at 0%.. there really really hurting on those full size vehicle sales.

Time to make a few trips to Home Depot for insulation. I've still got one wall of the house to upgrade. Then it's time for the solar heating panels.

Though I'm not doing too bad already. With the wood stove, the furnace only comes on late at night, or (at low level) when I have to go out of town for a week. First year I was in this place, I used about 400 gallons (IIRC) of heating oil. With insulation & all, it's down to about 50 last winter. Maybe I can get to 5 or 10 next year?

People like that are the types that only put their vehicle up for sale the day of the repossession. Some drivers of trucks and SUVs will defend their vehicles' until the day they're malnourished from food cutbacks.

I saw a jacked-up Excursion with huge mud tires today angrily trying to parallel park downtown, just as I started my evening commute on my bicycle. Those are the people that will fall flat on their faces soon (and do it all over again a few times before they finally get the picture).

wow! GM sales down 18% last month... fords sales down 28% in June... Chrysler's closing there minivan plant and truck plants going to single shifts.. huge lay offs.. no one is buying new cars.. or trucks...

The news story I saw was interviewing one of these laid off auto workers in front of the closed plant, he drove off on a Honda motorcycle.. go figure...
