But note Honda's sales are up, and most (all?) of the manufacturers are reporting that they can't make small cars fast enough to meet demand. (Average time on dealer lot for the Prius is apparently measured in hours now.) So it's not that no one is buying new cars, it's that all of a sudden they've stopped buying new gas guzzlers, and the automakers can't switch production fast enough to supply the changed demand.

yeah small cars are doing alright but chevy and ford and crysler are downsizing and fast.. switching over to smaller cars would still alow jobs to be kept, there not being kept and there sales are falling .. Yes I have heard a Prius is 8 months out at this point .. i have said that the companies like honda nad toyota will do pretty well this year.. there specilty is small cars.. the big 3 uas automakers are really going to be hurting.

When I was at work today, I managed to check out the 'trading markets' section of my employer's website. Every stock was down (the TSX was down more than 450 points!!!) except Gold and Oil. This is not looking good people. Economic downturn anyone?

And? It's a self-inflicted injury. I should feel sorry for them? Or for the out-of-work auto workers union members who kept on pushing the "buy the big fuel-sucking-pig stuff we assemble 'cause it's built in America" propaganda for so long?
