Started out as just another day. I was in the 8th grade, one of the smallest and youngest 8th graders in the brand new junior high school I attended.
They closed the school when the news was reported that the President was dead. I'll never forget the early bus ride home. Every single person on that bus was crying.
It was my 13th birthday.
51 years ago.

Happy Birthday Mech. Thanks for making this world a better place by living in it.
I also remember that day, as a toddler. I was living in a barrio half a world away and learned about it via the excited radio broadcasts. That evening, dozens of people gathered around the only TV in the village to watch the recorded scenes.
