112 miles on a single charge

I thought I’d post this here since I consider my conversion of a ’77 MG Midget to electric a success. I have driven a midget for the last 35 years. 10 years ago I started thinking a midget would be a great car to convert because it is so small and light. I finally decided to try it this last year because the LiFePo4 batteries where being described as real by many people converting cars. I now own a electric midget with a tested range of 112 miles in around town driving. It should get close to that at an even 50mph as well. To get that range I lightened my flywheel, run 40 PSI in my tires, and even tried an air dam, but that didn’t seem to work. I’ve learned a lot from this site, and I hope that maybe other people at this site might consider converting their car to electric. I have a web site about my build where I try to describe many of the aspects of doing this. It is becoming easier to do all the time.

Congrats. 112 miles is pretty good. How many kWh is your pack, and how much of that are you allowed to use?

The pack is 19.6Kwh, and that would have been considered 100%. To get 2000 charge cycles they recommend not going beyond 80% discharge. I normally don't drive anywhere near 90 miles in a single day, so that isn't an issue for me. It is good to know that if I need to I can get over 100 miles. I now charge the car about every 3 days or so, after about 50 miles. I only have a 10 mile round trip commute if all I do is go to work and back.
