1994 Honda Civic Ex Coupe with VX 1.5

Hello! I am new to the honda scene. I bought a stanced honda civic EX coupe, last friday. I didnt realize untill a day later that the previous owner, removed the D16Z6 and installed a D15Z1 in. I decided to give it a smog pre-test and it failed by 3 points in the HC (PPM) section and by 200 points in the NO (PPM) section. I was told the D15Z1 doesnt come automatic at all and thats why im using a different engine control management. Anyways, are there any tips on reducing the emissions?

Buy a D16z6 and install it, sell the D15z1- issue fixed

Welcome to the site spycker. It is true that the Civic VX never came in automatic. That may be an issue, it might not though.

For HC (extra fuel in the exhaust) emissions I'd look into running some injector cleaner. For the NO, I'd make sure your EGR system isn't clogged up and is working properly.

Agreed, the EGR is probably clogged, and do a full service. Spark plugs, wires, dizzy, oil change, tranny flush, EGR clean, EGR plate cleaning (it's really easy) O2 sensor clean and a bottle of techron in the tank and I'm sure it will pass.
