1995 Honda Civic VX - TESTING WATERS

Going to make this really short and sweet. I would like to see what you guys think this is worth. It's not for sale as of yet.

Title: Clean, CA title in hand
Miles: 115,xxx at the moment
# of owners? I'm the second owner
I have records dating back to 1995 on the car as well as some interesting and not so common documents such as a pre-delivery inspection and a lot of maintenance receipts on the car. The car even has the original window sticker still on it from 1995! I bought it from the first owner at 91k miles.

I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking. If you guys can think of anything else that might help with getting a better sale price (when I do decide to sell it) please share ^.^

The PS CV axle boot is torn and leaking fluid (I intend to replace both DS and PS CV axles completely before putting the car up for sale).

Original paint, and no accidents?

I'll give you $500 for it right now. My in-laws live by Olive park and can be there within an hour with cash.

But I'd hold out for the $4-5K with everything fixed and blowing cold a/c. Should sell fast at 3500. The cali spec is a wash with cali lack of rust.

It's the original paint and it's never been in an accident. I would've mentioned any issues with paint and/or accidents from the get-go if any existed..car is all original.

~$5000 give or take.

A clean all original example such as that can go higher.
Original minty VX's are only getting rarer and rarer.

The documentation is a nice touch, along with the Compression test.

Thank you! I've tried to be as detailed as possible. Potential buyers could even cross reference the date(s) of the photo(s) using the EXIF to match the maintenance list and see for themselves that it is indeed factual and not false information. I just wanted to gauge interest. I had it up for sale a few months ago and I had quite a few people interested. This car is completely original minus the stereo (don't think this really matters lol). I have the original spare/spare tire tools/pouches for the tools, all sorts of documentation dating back to '95. Heck, I even have the oil change paper from '96 on the driver's door. I've tried to take as good care as one could. Before actually selling it, I intend on doing a full detail on the car to really bring out the shine and clarity and fix the CV boot. The only other "issue" I guess you could say is that the A/C idler pulley bearing is making noise. Does not affect actual A/C operation but, just makes a whirring noise when the compressor is not engaged. You can easily drown it out with music or if it really bugs you compressor setups are fairly cheap and easy to swap out.

Just for curiosity's sake, what would make you want to sell a car that everybody on here would kill or die for? I don't know if I could do it.

Nice car, I'd drive it til it drops!

LOL thanks To be utterly honest, I first bought the car with intentions to daily drive it, few months down the line I wanted to swap a D16 head on it and boost it, few more months down the line I just wanted to lower it on a Koni/GC setup and get a Spoon duckbill but, in the end I decided against all that as any of those choices would ruin the originality of the car.

I have been wanting a 1997-1998 model 240sx S14 for about 2 years now and to be completely honest i've become rather impatient and don't really want to wait and save up enough to be able to purchase the S14 without having to sell the VX ( stupid I know ) so I want to use the money that i'll get from this car along with some extra cash to buy the S14.

As of right now, I don't really know what'll happen but, like I said it's only a testing waters post for the time being. I've been asked in person quite a few times if I was interested in selling it as well. Just today I was asked by an older gentleman if I wanted to sell the car (he knew what the VX was etc.) and i've had a few notes left on the car as well (which I've held on to for s*its & giggles).

I just looked up the cost of the new idler pulley and i'm going to check out the procedure of replacing it tomorrow. If it's fairly easy that'll be taken care of as well along with the CV axles. Aside from that, you can judge what might possibly be needed using the maintenance log I have created.

I'll probably do the thermostat (with a VX specific replacement) as well as distributor cap/rotor and a new set of plugs just as preventative maintenance. After replacing the oil pan gasket (and driving for 1000 miles) I have not seen any new signs of oil leakage (thank God) and the oil level has remained constant. When I do decide to actually sell the car, it'll be fully detailed and i'll have pictures of all corners of the car with more detailed engine bay shots, interior shots as well as pictures of the bottom of the car (frame). Car has dents here and there (by no means is this a perfect car) and I have been contemplating hiring a PDR guy to sort that out. Next worst thing would be the tail gate having a dent in it (not sure what happened here) but, the tail gates are fairly cheap and easy to replace if it bugs the buyer that much. Like I said the ad will be much more detailed once it's ready to be put on the market.

I'm sure at this point you realize how much I actually enjoy the car and can see why the only reason I want to sell it is to speed up the process of me buying my next car but, we'll see. I think it's fairly stupid to sell this car with gas prices in CA being what they are.

I can't see gas prices doing anything but going up, that's why I keep driving the Black Widow, in the Florida heat with no A/C

I'm trying to cut a deal wit ha guy on a Gen-1 Insight (with air), but if that falls through I'll be driving the Festiva until it drops, or I drop

You'll miss it when it's gone, man! Second time you gas up the SX and do the math, you're gonna wish you had it back!
