Daox Sorry I haven't did any oil analysis on Hy-Gard. Just track tested. Hy-Gard handles the extreme heat when on the trans-brake and the clutches live a lot better in a high torque application.
All of the racers I have talk to agree that it helps with torque converter efficiency and lower's the rpm of the converter stall speed.

Well, I haven't run the car for a week and a half roughly (been on my honeymoon, yahoo), and today was the first day back driving it. It started up pretty rough, rougher than it ever has. It had a noticeable miss and even backfired a bit. It finally spit out a P303 code on the scangauge (misfire on cylinder #3). And, a little bit later it smoothed right out. So, I now have a bit more info to figure out this misfire deal.

Coast, coast, coast in neutral, engine on. Bet you could get close to 40 if you drive more than a few miles normally.

Yo Metro, I made a contribution, can you get rid of the obama gives a bailout ad. Aside from the ludicrosity of him giving me anything, my house is paid for.

Your ads should be removed now.
And yeah, coasting is very important. I do a fair amount of it. The commute is only 7 miles, so thats the kicker.

Bless you oh magnificent gentleman.
I can get my Feista to very close to it's average MPG within 5 miles, but that stretch of road has no lights or really heavy traffic unless the Interstate is plugged by an accident.
A thermostat that warms up the engine quickly might make a difference, but only if the present one is "lazy' about closing and opening quickly.
I pulse and coast immediately after climbing my driveway, 3 times in .3 miles to get out of our neighborhood. Probably another 10 times before I reach 5 miles.
regards
Mech

I pulled the plugs out last night (which I thought I had done before), and regapped them. One was out to .075", the rest were a bit less. It fired up just fine this morning. It would be great if that is what it was.

Well, hitting my first goal didn't turn out to be horribly hard. Last night was my first fill up with all me driving back and forth to work (after the last one where I got used to the car a good deal). I ended up with 30.8 mpg over 441 miles. Hurray!
I'm still running the car fully un-modded except for having 50 psi in the tires. Seeing as its still warming up that bodes very well.
I guess the next target is 35 mpg.

I'm guessing it was damp/wet/cracked ignition parts.
Get some WD-40 to spray on it next time it happens and you'll know.

I'll give that a try if I have issues in the future. It was rainy again this morning, but I had no issues at all.
