Good luck with your project
From what I have researched the HX and LX have the same gearing but the HX has a slightly taller FD. From my calculations it just isn't enough of a difference to swap.

Apparently from my research the LX/DX can have one of two final drives. The sedan has a lower geared one vs the coupe/hatch.

All I know is the tires that are on the car are some craptastic cheap-o's and I will definitely look into your recommendations. Thank you.

Pictures, because we all love pictures!

I am replacing all seals, gaskets, belts etc so at this point I am at a standstill until my parts arrive. Also ordered a new primary o2 sensor *5 wire* because I found one on clearance sale for $20 bucks! Going to run the new one and keep the old one as a spare assuming it works still.

The cylinders look great inside. I cannot feel ANY ridge at the top of the ring travel in the cylinder walls.

Correct engine code, check.

Correct federal ECU, check.

Correct 5 wire o2 sensor, check.

Roller rockers, check.

Awesome, can you take a picture of the cylinder head numbers directly next to the coolant outlet on the head. On my y5 the numbers are upside down which has a few of the other moderators on h-t confused but I believe the y5 heads were given this designation to seperate them as solid roller heads.

There should also be a year stamped on the head next to the dip stick to indicate the year the head was made

Be sure to clean that intake manifold from stem to stern to clear out that egr passage way

I will get that picture for you right now.

Head is getting stripped, hot tanked, new valve stem seals and re-assembled.

The egr passage on the head is very full of crap. I haven't pulled the plate on the intake yet but will certainly clean that too!

Chryslerkid, here's the stamped in numbers, is this what you're after? I couldn't tell you if they're upside down or not since they're stamped vertically vs horizontally.

The date casting is a 97 on the dipstick side of my head.

Yep that's what I was referring to.

It's hard to tell. Does yours read from the top down like mine?

Here's my y7 casting number, it appears to be oriented the same way as my y5 head.

Yeah mine are hard to read because the first 3 numbers are 609 but they read from the top down. The numbers in the circles are what I was looking at

The numbers in the circle are date codes, on other models they are easy to read and not upside down like mine. Yours are a little hard to read but appear to be upside down as well.
