Question 2005 Civic Hybrid Instruments?

I was just wondering what the accuracy of the stock instruments is like? How does it gather the MPG? Would a scanguage benefit me and if so how? I'm sure there will be more questions. Thanks for any input.

I hear the stock mpg gauge is fairly accurate (usually within 2 mpg). I'm not sure how it gathers its readings exactly. A scangauge will still be of benefit as it can monitor a lot of other things.

I know that it calculates how much gas has been used every 1/10th of a mile. I'm pretty sure it just takes how many miles you've gone and then divides that by the gallons of gas used.

I know this is probably in other threads, but while I'm at it, how much do scan gauges cost and where can I get one?

This thread has all the info about how to get one, how much and all that jazz.

Also, if you like DIY type stuff, or the scangauge proves too expensive, keep the MPGuino in mind.
