2007 Fit?
I’m thinking about Honda Fits as replacement car for my Focus. One that has caught my eye is a blue 07 with 125k miles. It’s an auto-tragic so the wife can drive it. What things should I look out for? Timing belt or chain? Ad says ATF was changed at 100k; is this a normal interval? Any particular areas that are prone to rusting to look out for?
Thanks,
Mike

The Honda Fit uses a timing chain instead of a timing belt (I believe all Hondas switched to timing chains around 2006).
According to CarComplaints.com, there aren't really any major things to look out for. Honestly from what I found when researching this as a possible vehicle very few complaints were out there. I did find a couple related to power steering failure.
Can't really help with the rusting part since I don't own one; obviously check key areas such as the license plate bolts, wheel wells, fuel tank cap, hood, underbody, etc. A brief Google search didn't seem yield any abnormal results.

Glad they went to a chain. Seems more dependable and lower maintainence than the belts.

Coil packs.
If the car your looking at has over 120k, they've probably been replaced already.
Also, that little damn clip the sunshade goes into... replaced that twice. Otherwise these little cars are damned bear bulletproof.

Don't settle for an auto just because someone can't drive it. TEACH THEM!

Good to know the cars are pretty reliable though. Thank you

Clutches don't just get smoked, you have to be trying to kill them. If she knows not to use the clutch to hold the car in place then it will probably be fine.

Pull the clutch in and pick the right gear!
I think you need to show her this video:

Coils definitely, hitachis off of rock auto are essentially oem ones, also I’ve had two alternators fail over the last decade I’ve had mine, but otherwise an amazingly reliable car, mine has never seen a tow truck since it was delivered 181k later
