2009 EcoModding Resolutions / Goals?

What do you want to do in 2009? I'll let you folks start off while I ponder this question for myself, :)

Basically achieve a higher average mpg over the next year with both vehicles. I wanted to hit 60 mpg with the Paseo this past year and missed it by a hair. I also wanted to hit 50 mpg with the Matrix and only missed that by a small amount too. I'd like to hit those and more this comming year.

Use less then I did last year both in fuel and home energy use and try to make at least one more convert.

Get my diesel project off the ground and play with veggie oil.

My 2009 modding resolution: finish my 2008 list! :D

You do remember what you resolved to do in 2008, don't you?

See the thread: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...list-1199.html

Let's see... How did I do?
Quote:

2008 Metro goals:

- properly affix rear skirts (brackets)
- make permanent partial kammback
- experiment with front air dam
- develop front wheel skirts
- test airtabs

Metro wish list:

- lowering

ForkenSwift goals:

- dissassemble, clean & repaint everything (motor, racks, engine compartment)
- install battery pack LED monitor
- add DC/DC converter (sort of - it's duct taped in place)

ForkenSwift wish list:

- add 2 more batts on a controller bypass circuit for 60v turbo mode

OK, not as bad as I thought!

So then for 2009 I'd like to tackle:

2009 Metro goals:

- get my cruise control working/replaced (again) so I can get back to A-B-A tests
- finish front wheel skirts
- do a ride height lowering A-B-A test
- develop a removable boat-tail prototype, and A-B-A it
- reinstall the full belly pan after lowering the car (or not)
- probably some other smaller things I forget at the moment...

2009 ForkenSwift goals:

-
properly install the instrumentation - the LED pack monitor & ammeter are currently duct taped to the dashboard
- properly install the DC DC converter
- properly install the charger & plug
- finally clean up the interior - it's the dirtiest I've ever seen!
- investigate that "turbo" boost circuit

2009 resolution- install a wide mirror inside the City-EL, but I am concerned about removing outer side mirrors due to legality of no visible mirror. Not a major problem with a vehicle I cannot get parts for anyway! I hope newer 3-wheel vehicles become available that I can get parts for.

Hmmm...

I think the near term goal is to average 55mpg with the Mouse without doing any body mods... only with improved driving techniques and easy FE mods (such as higher tire pressure, lower weight oils, etc.)

Additionally, figuring out how to load up my recumbent trike into the Mouse so that I can drive to work partially, then ride the rest of the way.

Oh man, there are too many to think of. Here's a list that I may edit :

1 - Test "pulse plug" spark plugs = DONE [link]
2 - Kamm-back
3 - Momentary fuel cutoff switch
4 - Front Aero nose treatments : Active grill block, Below/front engine pan using coropolast, Remove/angle/improve front license plate.
5 - Side view mirror downsize = DONE [link]
6 - cheap wheel disk covers = IN PROGRESS [link]
7 - Hot Air Intake improvement
8 - Get my ElmScan 322 from ScanTool.net, LLC - Scan Tools and PC-based OBD-II (OBD2) Interfaces online so I can see my EFIE in action = IN PROGRESS[link]
This would lead to ...
9 - ... Hydrogen Generator + EFIE, which leads to ...
10 - ... My hopeless quest for a reasonably priced NOx sensor

11 - The time to actually DO some of this stuff.

To the above I will add

12: Rear wheel skirts = DONE [link]
13: Convert from power to manual steering.

I really need to get #3 done. It's a no-brainer because others have done this for my exact same car.

Mehbe I'll scrape together the money to get myself a d15z1 for the CRX.

At the very least I want to get the proper ECU and otherwise fix the dang thing, :p
I think that means I succeeded, :)

I don't really have any strong goals for 09, since I don't know if I'll be in the country, but I'd love to import a honda beat from japan and mehbe get some better lowering springs for the crx and mehbe give it a real alignment.

-Own or build anything that gets at least 50mpg.

-Settle into a career where my views and/or passion will impact the masses.

-Stay healthy enough to continue to challenge the status quo.

Anything more ambitious and I would just be lying to myself .. LOL
