2010 Washington Auto Show: "A Green Machine" - Jan 27-31

Don't know if anyone's interested in going.

Robbiewt went last year and took a bunch of photos: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...show-7030.html

The juicy bits from their press release:

Quote:
The Washington Auto Show®: A Green Machine
2010 show to Launch Massive Showcase of Advanced Technology

The Washington Auto Show®, which houses more green cars than any major U.S. auto show, is redoubling its efforts in 2010 with a 65,000-square foot display known as the "Advanced Technology SuperHighway."

The Advanced Technology SuperHighway will be sectioned by advancements in.electric, diesel, natural gas, advanced petroleum, biofuels, ethanol,.hydrogen and safety technologies.

Currently, the companies slated to display are:.

Audi, AutoPort, BMW, BorgWarner, Bosch, Boulder Electric Vehicle, Bright.Automotive, Chrysler, Columbia ParCar, Electric Drive Transportation.Association, Enova Systems, Evolve-it, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai,.Kia, Lexus, Magna International, Mercedes, Nissan, Novozymes, OnStar,.Phoenix Motorcars, Quantum Technologies, Scuderi Engine, Smith Electric.Vehicles, THINK, Toyota, UQM Technologies, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S..Department of Transportation, Volkswagen, Volvo and Wheego.

It is both the largest public show in Washington as well as a niche event: the stage to exchange ideas and information with those shaping the future of the automobile. Building on this platform for collaboration, the 2010 Washington Auto Show is partnering.with SAE International and the Electric Drive Transportation Association.(EDTA), both of which will co-locate conferences with the Washington Auto.Show.

The Washington Auto Show, "Change Happens Here," is scheduled for January.27-31, at The Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Public Policy/Media.Preview Days are Jan. 25 on Capitol Hill and Jan. 26 at the convention.center.

If it's there I'll get pictures.

I hope it will be on the floor where I get inside and pop the hood. Last year Kia was stupid and put the Soul up on a turntable.

Here are the photos!

I hope picasa web albums works for everybody.

Overall, I didn't see anything that would make me rush to a dealership.

Wassup with the rear fender on the Wheego? The VW is very low and sleek -- but I forgot how much 4 doors helps when there are 4 seats... The aero proplem with the Fiat 500 is the round butt. The Aveo RS is nice, except for the gaping maw.

Thanks for the pics! What did you think of the VW? Too bad it was (appeared?) roped off. I'd have wanted to crawl around that one.

From the outside, the interior of the VW looked to be quite roomy. If it were for sale and the price was right, I wouldn't mind owning it. I did hear some lady ask "Why can't they make it look like a car?"

One strange thing I noticed was that the smaller car had more interior room than the larger cars. I could easily get in and out of the Smarts, but I had no head room in most of the Jaguars. And I gave myself a nasty leg cramp getting out of the FJ Cruiser. Sadly, I couldn't get close to the Maybachs.

Usually there are big crowds around the sport cars and nobody looking at the cheap economy cars. This year was pretty much the same, but there were huge crowds checking out the electric cars.

Neil, The 500 is all about image , latte's in the frattoria and being trendy.

That said they look the goods in the Italian red / white / green warpaint and they do leave a smile on your face even if you only sit in it and don't actually get to go anywhere.

Saw one here at the last motor show and fell in love with it.

Pete.
