2011 Fiesta rear seat delete
Since the wife and I seldom carry passengers, today I removed the rear seat. Got a 2X4 piece of 1/4 inch plywood, trimmed the rear edges and routered slots to side in the u shaped mounting rods that were left when everything was removed. Maybe 50 pounds total weight.

Finish looks great, thought it was just a pic of a flat folding rear seat at first

I thought about doing this in the Mustang. I found it easier to just pop out the passenger seat. Much easier (for me), more space, more weight, more seats left (three instead of two).
Your build looks good. If I went cross country with the Mustang, I would definitely do this project.

I have done this in a couple 2-door VW GTIs that I've owned, that i never cared to carry passengers in.....besides my dog who loves the huge cargo area! I also used 1/8" thick styrene plastic as I was sure any wood I'd buy would end up getting wet eventually, swelling, and then destroying my work. Used 3m heavy duty spray adhesive to affix my carpeting which I usually get online from a audio/speakerbox company in Chicago....i think its called Kings or something?

Very nice. Very clean looking in a very clean car.

Nice job. And now you actually have space to put stuff in there. I can't believe Ford has the nerve to call the area behind the back seat the "cargo area". There is barely enough room for 1 duffle bag and its so oddly shaped that you can't stack things normally. Rear seat delete makes it a decent, 2-door wagon

I put a 2 ton ac condenser unit in the back before I took the seat out. I could carry 2 of them now. Depending on the front seat location its 42 inches wide (flat) and close to 60 in length with the front seats forward. I could drive it like that but it wouldn't be comfortable. Totally reversible with no mods to the car.

Wow, looks nice. I had removed my seat backs, but left the bottom since the surface under it was rounded and the seat made it flat. I later put the seat backs back in as they helped to divide up cargo and keep the sub in place.
