Surprising to see tailgate down is more efficient, as the common wisdom with trucks is that tailgate up is more efficient.
Also strange to see mirror delete made things worse.

I think they did not adjust the frontal area change in mirror removal and lowering. I think they should then readjust their correction factors for the tunnel. I tried to ask that in the youtube comments there but no reply yet on that matter.

' tonneau open / tailgate down '
If we had a side elevation technical drawing of CYBERTRUCK, with it's tailgate down, and superimposed the near-streamline's smoke trace ( shown in the video ) inside the 'vault'; in theory, this 'contour' that it 'describes', would become the 'first approximation' for constructing an 'ideal' roofline contour for the truck, compared to the simplistic, 'prismatic' shape that it possesses.
It might not be 'practical' as a pickup truck, but it would be 'aerodynamic,' as defined by Dr.-Ing. Wolf-Heinrich Hucho, in the preface of his 2nd-Edition, Aerodynamics of Road Vehicles.

' frontal area ............. correction '
yes, all the data is prefaced against a 33- square-foot ( 3.065 square meters ) projected frontal area, at the 7.9-inch ground clearance ( 200.66mm ), with the mirrors installed.

Seems they still have problems. You get rocks and sand there and the rubbing will start...

justacarguy.blogspot.com: this Cybertruck emerged victorious in the diesel-powered pickup truck 2500-classl
Quote:

The recent off-road update allowed Cybertruck owners to do something that wasn't previously attainable - lock the front and rear differentials, allowing for massively improved traction. the Cybertruck pulled the sled to an impressive 299 feet, a hair's breadth less than a full pull which is around 300 feet. The 2500 class, for the uninitiated, refers to the 'Class 2b, light duty' trucks such as the RAM 2500, GMC Sierra 2500, Ford F-250, and of course, the Cybertruck.

I understand the aerohead is not a fan of the host, but....
My favorite part is 29:52 to 50:12, it makes me feel better about the state of my carport.

How would you like to the bet neighbor across the road?
Meanwhile, I'm not someone that should talk, took off all the stuff from my deck two months ago (it's on the lawn, BBQ, table, chairs etc....) and still have not stained the deck because of all the rain, heat and humidity.
I'm not working under those conditions boss.

I'm currently procrastinating on tearing out the rotting stairs/railing on the lower deck. Not sure what I'll rebuild with, but I've got metal stringers so I never have to deal with rotting ones again. Leaning towards composite decking because I don't have 2 days every year to dedicate to cleaning and re-staining decking.
Time for me to get to tearing out those stairs now.

I think that would be awesome, except it's in Maine. I'm not too stoked on Oregone ATM. On Sept. 1st possession of an unserialized 1895 Harrington & Richardson top-break revolver becomes a crime, were I to have one.
