Same. You and me both dream of our E-vehicles selling for the price initially announced. Then I dream of owning it 5 years later when used ones are going for half the price of new.
Maybe Tesla will let the one shot with a machine gun go for a discount?

I saw somewhere the Cybertuck has the biggest battery ever put in a Tesla. Maybe 128 kwh for both the dual and tri motor versions. They said the dual motor was 42.9 kWh per 100 miles for a 340 mile range. I don't know if that's epa official but it's the same as the 2023 rivian dual motors epa 43 kWh per 100. miles. The Cybertuck is lighter and Tesla usually has more efficient motors especially with the new higher voltage, so makes me think the Rivian makes up for it with better aero.

The tri motor uses 2 cheaper induction motors and 1 higher efficiency permanent magnet.
Still disappointed the dual motor won't be anywhere near $50k... but maybe Tesla is just capturing money from the big spenders willing to pay more to be first, and will substantially reduce the price later on. I expected the $50k to increase to $60k due to the 20% inflation in the last 2 years, but not to $80k.
I'm surprised vehicles with a lot of interest don't have the first, say 10,000 sold at auction to the highest bidder. There's someone out there with too much money that would spend a million to have the 1st production truck, and plenty that would pay $150k to not wait.

The guess is both the 2 motor and the 3 motor use the same battery. Hence 340 miles for the dual and 320 miles for the 3.

'Cybertruck range extender battery' trailer''
If the link works, it will take you back about a year, to a video John and I put together for 'The Aerodynamics of Towing.'
At 13:24, we've presented the Cybertruck with it's range-extender battery inside the fully-gap-filled, tadpole trailer, which allows the truck's Cd to fall into Cd 0.15 territory.
The drag reduction helps compensate for the added mass and rolling-resistance of the trailer, which is overshadowed by the delta-CdA.
The November30, 2023 range extender pack would be removed from the Cybertruck's vault, and relocated to the tadpole, leaving the bed with its maximum load volume intact.

If the tadpole retained shape but became load capable..........nevermind, not a lot of load in that aero shape.

A conversation between them what do:
After the testimonial at about 34:00, I think I should get a Model Y seat for my computer desk.
I hope the $25K car will be paintless and bulletproof.

Munro; my least favorite "resource" for EVs. I'll begrudgingly/enthusiastically watch because I like both those characters, despite their quirks.
I started a spreadsheet listing contenders for the next vehicle, and Cybertruck made the short list. Not a likely option, but you've got to have items on a list to make a decision. Will probably create a weighted ranking of various pros/cons of the vehicles (subjectively evaluated) on the spreadsheet and allow the algorithm make the decision. My guess is a Toyota Sienna, despite the fact it's the least thrilling option on the list.
So far;
Kia EV9
Sienna LE
Model X
Cybertruck
Pacifica
EDIT: Interestingly, the Tesla website is showing a $10k reduction in price already for all but the top trim. More disappointingly, the truck is advertising 5 seats, not 6. Don't know what happened there, but I have no use for a vehicle that hauls the minimum number of occupants.
*Oregon does permit passengers in the bed as long as all seatbelts are in use.

They're posting pictures of people sitting in the frunk, under the hood. I can do that with my Superbeetle.

One of the best quotes from this article
"Tesla already has a reputation for using rather high correction factors to publicize better range that its EVs usually offer – and the Cybertruck appears to be Tesla’s most optimistic formula to date. Tesla’s factors are estimated to be 0.82 for the AWD truck to reach a 340-mile range and 0.79 for the Beast to get a range of 320 miles.
If Tesla used the industry norm of .7 that other manufacturers adhere to, the Cybertruck range would be about 290 miles for AWD and the Beast would get 283.5."
