With a 4.6 V8 and auto at that!
The route was 28 miles round trip from my Aunt's house into Smithfield and back. 25% city, 75% country roads obeying the speed limits along the way... meaning about 5 mph below
I was surprised at how easy it was to pass the highway rating of 25. It is completely stock, except for a set of 225/60R17 Michelin Energy Saver A/S that were pumped up to just below sidewall max
I beat the Highway rating for my Escort ZX2 (30 mpg) also. I don't doubt that 35 mpg would be possible, maybe 40+ in competition.
