The 225's will stretch on my current set of times alright, will look something like this when is done

I actually have issue with rubbing right now so the angled sidewall would actually help a little

That is pretty big decrease of tire width 285>225 . How wide are your rims , maybe something in the 245 range . I think 225 be a little thin for that car (If you push on it to use 300hp ).
At least in the back, you running staggered wheels/tires ?

I am not a fan of stretching tires , so much more easy to damage rims .

The rims are 15" so they do not make standard tires in a 245 low profile tire anymore. 225/50 is the only tire I can order for 15's that will have the correct diam. Rims are staggered 15x8 front 15x10 rear

Running 225s on 10" wide rims is crazy. The rims are wider than the tires. I'd say 265 would be as narrow as I'd run on those, 235 should be fine up front.

They literary don't make any tires for a 15x10 inch rim anymore, a 265 would only come in a 60-70 series sidewall. The tires will be stretched but its gonna help my tire clearance issue. As it is right now, ive got 205/50 in the front with a tiny bit of stretch.

I know it seems illogical and I don't encourage anyone to follow my lead but its the only option I have besides selling the rims or paying upwards of 900 dollars for 2 new tires tha are replicas of the ones on there now, and have a 180 tread wear rating.

People out there have gone as far as stretching 185/50's onto 15x10 rims, heres a shot of exactly what ill be looking at

thanks for the inputs!

Well a 225 mm tire is approx-8.9" wide at its widest point (not the tread, that will be narrower) a 10" wide rim is generally 11" wide at its widest so about 1" of mismatch on each side, will give fantastic lateral stiffness to the tire and look like crap IMO.

Personally I'd be looking for different rims, maybe even a steel 14" set that would fit some of the modern LRR tires but I know this would be completely against the character of the car and is not likely to happen unless you get a little further into the FE sickness that spreads here

I'd agree with replacing the rims. Going to 16" rims might help your tire choices a lot.

catch 22 being they don't make new rims in old bolt patterns : D (at least not the kind with a big offset that would be acceptable to install) Ive looked for 17's for quite some time to buy but the reality is they aren't available where I live without paying a huge premium.

The Datsun's goal was never to be a record setting mileage car, and as I pay about 5 times more on insurance than I do on gas the cost to operate it really doesn't change much at all going from 15 to 40 MPG, its just fun for me to do and makes me feel good Not interested in diminishing the looks over a few extra miles but appreciated all the inputs from different automobile communities and cultures out there!

I really just wanted to share my success and maybe be some inspiration for others out there. One of the first to have "super car" performance with economy car efficiency?

Still a sweet ride, tho 225s on 10s will look a bit goofy. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

If you were really interested could you get new hubs and convert to a 5 lug bolt pattern to give you a better selection of good cheap wheels. Or just drill your current hubs out for a new bolt pattern? I can't remember if thats possible or not.

On some vehicles, it can be done. It depends on the hubs.
