Thermostat now purchased- hopefully get it fitted this weekend, and see how the temp is then. Maybe grab some pics of some other parts I've acquired..
I'm hoping for a rock steady 90 degrees indicated, with the engine getting there quicker

Thanks!
Had a very productive day today:
Picked these up for £50
Boge Gas turbo dampers, with lowering springs
they're off a mk2 golf Gti 16v, but fit the mk3. Should be about a 40mm drop- sensible and comfortable!

Nice. Seems like you're gonna hit, or maybe even break, the 4L/100km barrier soon...

I dunno about that, I'm almost a litre off it..
The thermostat should help, and lowering wont hurt- we'll see!
Next aim is to get to 60 (imp) mpg whilst on 30% or more veg oil...

you're a liter off, but also you almost have no aeromods!
I think that you can reach the 3 L/100 km barrier!

If he wouldn't have an objection to try some fiberglass body panels and narrower tyres, would be easy to reach that barrier...

While you are servicing your car, make sure to adjust the nut behind the steering wheel. That one next to tire psi and a grill block pays the most mpg gains.
