I really like your idea to use pizza pans bolted to the hub caps. Do you know of anyway to do something similar but on aluminum rims? Thanks in advance

You could cable tie some plastic (or wood) blocks between (or on top of) wheel spokes and bolt the pans to them. All depends on your wheel style.

Alternatively, I've seen on here where someone bolted the pan to a plastic center cap, or some have drilled and tapped the wheels directly. Depends how immune you are to something permanent like that.

The easiest way I've found:
I made smooth coroplast wheel covers and secured them with zipties going around behind the spokes of the rims. Just cut a slit or make two holes in the wheel cover, then wrap the zipties around behind the spoke..repeat 4 or 5 times for one wheel. If you need to remove them, the zipties need to be cut, thus making it not easily attachable again.

OR

You could tap the ends of lug nuts for something to screw into and attach the covers that way.

Those are all very good ideas I especially like the cable tie around the aluminum spokes, I have the 5 spoke GM aluminums, that and the bold through the plastic center cap, I will explore both these ideas and report back. Thanks again everyone!

With the following mods to the 3rd Gen Prius
Mirror, rear wiper deletes
suspension lower
smooth wheel cover

you got a 65mpg on full tank then to near empty tank of fuel
is that correct

Your front bumper looks completely different from mine. Yours has a wider opening and the black bottom grill looks like a separate piece almost.

I'll be stealing your pizza pan technique. I've got the same plastic hub caps . After that, rear wiper delete.

Don't forget the grill block. I'm hopeful that this summer I'll see a 70mpg tank when the weather gets hot.

I think they changed the grill and lip for the 2012 model year, and moved the fog lights (for cars so equipped) to the grill area.

Another follow up....
roughly how much did the lowering suspension parts and labor cost?
I have asked few Prius Gen3 owners what their mpg was .....and 51mpg seems to be a common response.......

Just a point about the wheel covers. I have the exact same product on my car and have noticed quite a bit of rust on them (Inside) after driving throughout the winter months. I agree with everybody else that painting them should help!!

Your project is looking great!
